The SOTU

"US President George W. Bush winks to a member of the audience before he delivers the final State of the Union address of his presidency at the US Capitol in Washington January 28, 2008. REUTERS/Tim Sloan/Pool (UNITED STATES)"

Hey George - when you "wink" - only close ONE eye.

And on a different topic; who the h#ll decides who should give the Democratic response? Female Governor of Kansas, a very red state, is great on paper, but if the woman has no charisma it is not a good choice. Seriously people, I am about as much of a political junkie as they come and I COULDN'T SIT THROUGH IT! Plus what is up with the fireplace in the background? Why is that back there every single year??? FDR's Fireside chats were a long, long time ago - time to move one.

Why don't they get an audience, or as Lydia said last night on the phone, "don't they have anyone smart and quick enough to actually respond to what Bush said {lies...}?" Good question.

I think, "Can you believe that idiot?" would be a good intro...

George looks exactly like a 4 year old who is just trying to master the wink.

I had the same thoughts watching the response - horrible! Boring! Scratch her off the VP candidate list (I know her name has come up now and then). How did this woman get elected?!

Ah well, all that matters is that it was his LAST SOTU.

I could only stomach a few minutes of the speech, and did not even listen to the Democratic Response, but here is my Question. Why the hell does everyone give him a standing, clapping ovation after every sentence.., What the F*&^is that about ? Wouldn't it be great if the State of the Union was more like the British Parliament sessions ?? Let's see how much winking he would do then.
