Silas Loyal Dreyer 10/9/06 9:28 AM

I saw a baby born this morning. It really was a mind blowing experience. It was my first time being at a birth- well other than the births where I was either giving birth or being born. I feel so lucky that Annie invited me to be a part of such an amazing event. Right after Aida was born Eduardo just kept shaking his head and saying what an unbelievable thing it was to witness. Today I understand why. It is amazing on so many levels, but just physically- even though you see it with your own eyes, it doesn't seem possible.

Caroline was also there and I imagine she will have better photos up soon. I was on video duty and didn't even bring my own camera- this photo was taken with my phone.

When Aida was a baby I watched Rosie O'Donellinterview Jimmy Carter on her old talk show. He started talking about being with his daughter Amy when she gave birth. He said something like it was the single most amazing thing he had ever seen. Before that he had never seen one either because when his own children were born he was not allowed into the hospital room.

Little Silas is a beautiful baby. He cooed at both his mama and papa with in his first 10 minutes of living. Now I can't wait to get my hands on him- nothing better than holding a baby.
