Back from the Dead

Last weekend Aida and I helped chaperon a trip my school organized for our students to Los Angeles. We spent two nights at a great youth hostel in Santa Monica. On Saturday we went to Venice Beach, walked around Santa Monica a bit and went on a 3 hour tour of LA.

However, Aida was most excited for our plans for Sunday: Magic Mountain. While riding our 6th big roller coaster my body let me know that that was enough. Lucky for Aida one of our students offered to take her on another one. Our favorite ride was the Tatsu:

Aboard the wings of TATSU, riders fly at speeds in excess of 62 miles-per-hour through a series of "butterflies-in-your-stomach" plunges, huge sweeping spirals, stomach wrenching loops and sharp dives, high speed banked curves all deliberately designed to enhance the ultimate sensation of flight. With more than 3,602 feet of blazing red, orange and yellow twisted steel track barely visible intertwined through the mountainside, TATSU'S intense two minute flight faces a dramatic 263-foot change in elevation from its highest peak to inches off the ground and spans four separate areas of the Park.

Unfortunately, Sunday was also the day my throat started to hurt. On MOnday and Tuesday I was trying to convince myself that I just had a little cold, I wasn't getting the same things the kids had. (even though I came home from work on Monday and slept 14 hours....) On Wednesday I was hit with reality and a fever - by the time I got to the doctor it was 103.9 - not fun.

I felt so bad that I didn't even announce to the world that all four members of our family are now American Citizens! On Tuesday Eduardo had his citizenship ceremony. He can now vote for OBAMA! in November. (and Mike Aguirre in June)

I also hardly paid attention to the Pennsylvania primary. Once again we learned that Karl Rove style politics works - I am sure Bush's brain is very proud of Hillary.

Speaking of Obama, check out Michael Moore's endorsement, he writes:
...over the past two months, the actions and words of Hillary Clinton have gone from being merely disappointing to downright disgusting. I guess the debate last week was the final straw. I've watched Senator Clinton and her husband play this game of appealing to the worst side of white people, but last Wednesday, when she hurled the name "Farrakhan" out of nowhere, well that's when the silly season came to an early end for me. She said the "F" word to scare white people, pure and simple.

it hasn't happened in a few years but i used to get raging infected sore throat. it would start as a "hmm, my throat feels a little sore" and quickly escalate to 40 degree fever and severe pain. after the first one in which i tried to (unsuccesfully) tough it out, I learned to get thee to a ENT and get on antibiotics immediately. Is that what you have?

i commiserate with you and hope you feel better soon. congrats on the hubby. and welcome to america.

feliz nationales (or something)

it's good to have you back. I hope you're feeling better soon -- and that any thought of voting for Aguirre passes quickly! please tell me it's just a byproduct of your feverish state...
