Good Move MSNBC

Rosie O’Donnell, who abruptly left “The View” on ABC last spring after drawing attention and ratings for her opinions on everything from the Iraq war to her co-hosts, is in serious discussions to return to television atop a new soapbox: a prime-time show on the cable news channel MSNBC, according to executives on both sides of the negotiations who have been briefed directly.

Under one scenario, Ms. O’Donnell would be given the 9 p.m. slot each weeknight on MSNBC, where she would go head-to-head with two heavyweights of cable talk: “Larry King Live” on CNN and “Hannity & Colmes” on Fox News. Her show would replace “Live with Dan Abrams,” a relatively low-rated program that only recently replaced “Scarborough Country,” which was also little-watched.
I am serious about thinking it is a good move. For 6 months when Aida was a baby and I was stuck in between 4 freeways in Orange County I used to look forward to watching Rosie. She is very funny and has a great way with both celebrities and non-celebrities.

She is also seriously political. She didn't talk about politics very often on her daytime show, however she has been a guest on Randi Rhodes radio show on Air America and she knows her stuff.

Hopefully cable news executives will learn that liberals can get good ratings. I bet the first week on the air Rosie's ratings beat Uber ass-hole Glenn Beck on CNN.

For those of you who are not familiar with Beck - this is who CNN thinks deserves his own show. From Media Matters:
Beck is famous for spouting controversial and inflammatory comments against Democrats, Muslims, Arabs, Mexicans, and female guests on his radio and television programs. Beck has called President Jimmy Carter a "waste of skin," Mexican immigrants "dirt bags" and "lawbreakers," Katrina victims "scumbags," Cindy Sheehan a "prostitute," and suggested using nuclear weapons against parts of the Middle East and Venezuela.
Nice.

I'm all for getting more positive liberal voices out there, but I'm no fan of Rosie's.
