One of the Democratic Senators that makes me the most crazy is Ken Salazar from Colorado. It was very exciting when he won in 2004. We all had high hopes for him, hopes he squashed as he often votes with the Bush Administration.
That is why this news surprised me and makes me have the first optimistic thought about my party I have had for a long time: (from the Denver Post via TPM's Election Central}:
Washington -- Congress should look at cutting off funding for the Iraq War if Senate efforts to change the role of U.S. troops in the battlefield fail, Sen. Ken Salazar said Monday.Salazar, a Colorado Democrat, previously has not supported Congress using its ability to stop war payments in order to force President Bush to change direction..."If it could be done then I think we ought to take a look at it," Salazar said...
...While in Iraq over the weekend, Salazar said, some service men and women told him that they wanted Congress to cut off funding.
Troops are growing more and more distraught about this war. One would never know it from watching war cheerleaders like Katie Couric, but it is the truth.
