New Rules

We have a new rule in our house: no TV Monday - Thursday. We actually decided late last school year when our friend Veronica told us what a great thing it had been for their family. We told the kids then that when the new year started we would start.

The funny thing is that Aida, who is much more of a TV addict than Pablo, seems to be really happy with the rule. She has not asked once to watch TV and almost seems relieved she doesn't have to think about it. Pablo on the other hand, has had many a break down about it. The first day of school he was totally wiped out and really just wanted to lay in bed and watch a DVD. {Poor guy, the whole time we were talking about this rule he didn't understand that DVDs were also out during the week!} It was one of those parenting situations where you actually want to give in. He was being so brave going to Kindergarten again and I knew he felt funny seeing his friends from last year in first grade. However, after talking about the rule all summer long we knew if we gave in on the first day it was just going to get harder and harder. So he cried - a lot that first night. However today, day 4, he hasn't asked once! {and he said he "made a new friend" in his class so we are all happy.}

The winner is Captain Underpants who will be hanging around with us more now.
