Lydia and I watched most of the Democratic Debate on CNN this evening. You know, I want Obama to be my favorite I really do. I think if the rest of the world wakes up next year and sees that America has elected a smart, African American Democrat to the highest office in the land they might not feel like we are the nation of Red Neck bullies that we have proved ourselves to be over the last 6 1/2 years. However {you knew that was coming} I'm sorry, the guy campaigning reminds me of Gore and Kerry. He seems to be saying a lot of things to try to convince American that he is not an angry guy. He "feels good" about America. He is going to "bring people together". It will not be "politics as usual" if he is elected...blah, blah blah. He comes off as inauthentic and wimpy. Sorry been there, done that. The only thing that will keep me from slitting my wrists if another Republican is elected to the White House is the thought of my poor children being motherless and having to suffer a Republican administration with out me.
Shockingly the candidate who does not come across this way is Hillary Clinton. Anyone who knows me knows how much I loathe her - ever since she voted for the war. However I have to hand it to her, she knows what she is doing. She did not come across as overly packaged. She sounded tough. She did not triangulate the hell out of every question. She still is far from my first choice - she takes too much corporate money, she is too much of a hawk etc etc.... On the other hand she sure is a hell of a lot better than the ass-hole we have now and after tonight I do not feel like it would be near impossible for her to win. Actually it would be kind of fun to see her bitch slap Rudy around a bit on a debate stage.
Edwards was also good. I absolutely LOVE the above video his campaign put together. Way to turn it around John. Big Kudos. Unlike Obama he did show some passion and some anger. He seemed like he would fight for Americans and repeatedly brought up issues of poverty and social justice.
Hey Obama - remember this guy? I would like to see him again. Please.
