Working Moms Get the Blame

I don't know why working moms are plagued by guilt - headline from CNN.com:

Are working moms to blame for chubby kids? Video
Where to even start with all the things that piss me off about that statement. I have no side in the "mommy wars" - I have been both a working and a stay at home mom and think both are valuable, difficult and ultimately rewarding.

Why would working moms be more to blame than working dads? Why is it that European nations have at least as many working mothers and a hell of a lot less child obesity? I didn't even watch the video - probably at the end of the story they qualify their stupid headline, but I don't care. This just fans the flames of the "mom on mom" war stories. I am so sick of them. Divide and conquer always works I guess. I wish CNN would spend more time on the things that unite all American mothers: the need for better health care, education, pay, vacation and quality time with our kids.

To paraphrase Digby; Welcome to 1957, I hope you enjoyed your flight.
