I don't really know what George Tenet hopes to gain by publishing this book. For us anti-war folks he is writing "shocking" things we figured out literally years ago. For the quarter of the population who enjoy still think of W of the Supreme Leader Tenet will be seen as a traitor.
Although D.C. is a funny place. After watching the Moyers show earlier this week I should remember that the country club, cocktail circuit that is our D.C. Press Corp live in a different world - we probably will see Tim Russert this Sunday talking about the bold new work by Tenet.
And Tenet- cry me a fucking river. If you would have said this say 4 1/2 years ago I would have been impressed, now you are just proving you really are the putz we all knew you were:
In the television interview, Tenet takes special exception with Bush's comments, telling "60 Minutes" that he will "never believe that what happened that day informed the president's view or belief of the legitimacy or the timing of this war. Never!" White House planning for the invasion had been far along by then, Tenet said, with military and logistical plans near completion.I am sure Mary Tillman will just feel terrible for your pain. The most "despicable thing"?, give me a break. Next thing you know our first lady will say she and W have suffered as much as anyone because of the war - ooops my bad.Tenet said that the description offered first to Woodward and then repeated by senior administration officials, including Vice President Cheney and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, was "the most despicable thing that ever happened to me."
"You don't do this," Tenet said. "You don't throw somebody overboard just because it's a deflection. Is that honorable? It's not honorable to me."
