The kids had their annual jog-a-thon fund raiser at Explorer today. I took the morning off work and enjoyed the event as much as I always do. I would love to post some photos, but I forgot to charge my camera battery and will have to count on the kindness of friends to send them to me.
I was very happy to read this afternoon that the Democrats kept their huevos and actually approved the Iraq Spending Bill. Tomorrow the Senate will debate and then it will be sent to Bush who promises to veto it. My prediction is that his approval ratings will go down to the 2os once he does.
I ended my day watching the first episode of Bill Moyers new show: Bill Moyers Journal. Unsurprisingly it was excellent. Titled Buying the War it documented the absolutely piss pour job our national press corps did during the run up to the war. Watching the show reminded me {much in the same way the Dixie Chick documentary Shut up and Sing did} what a horrible time it was. In an excellent post about Moyers show and that time in general Digby writes:
A whole bunch of America sat there watching these sycophantic performances with our jaws agape, wondering if we had lost our minds. Bush was barely articulate, as usual, mouthing the worst kind of puerile platitudes (when he was coherent at all) while the press corps slavered over him as if he were Cicero. Bush, the clearly in-over-his-head man-child was molded into a hero and cheered by the media as he led this country into the dark, morass of an illegal war in the middle east. It was the most disorienting thing I've ever experienced in my life.yep.
