I totally lied to my daughter. She asked me tonight, "You can do long division right?" "Of course" I replied with a sinking feeling. "Good, because I don't quite get it." she said. Luckily the top of her worksheet explained it well so I could help her- plus she really did "get" most of it she just got a little confused what numbers go on top. The other lucky things: no remainders yet. Guess I will have to try to re-learn that this weekend so I can help her next week too.
I am totally screwed once she starts algebra.
Normally I wouldn't lie about not knowing something- but I was totally math phobic as a kid. I am paranoid about passing any of this to my kids so I would rather lie. When she is 21 I will have a beer with her and tell her the truth.
