My Valentine is in Mexico City with his family mourning the loss of his 88 year old grandmother, Mami.
Like many nicknames in his family, Eduardo is responsible for the nickname. Eduardo had very young aunts and uncles when he was born- as young as 8! When he was young he heard everyone else call his Grandmother "mami" so he did too. That tradition continued even to her great-grandchildren.
So Eduardo if you are reading this Happy Valentine's Day! I miss you.
However Valentines Day here actually sucks. Our dog Lola somehow opened a small door in the front of our house (they are small narrow door on the side of our front door designed for ventilation- very common in Craftsman houses from the beginning of the 1900s here- I have no idea how she got it open- I have a hard time opening them!) and escaped, so when I returned last night I found a note from Animal Services telling me I have to bail her out today. Poor girl must be totally freaking out. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a sub for my afternoon classes and she is going to have to wait until 4:30.
