Sorry Light Posting

This has been a really shitty week. One of Aida's closest and dearest school friend's little five month old brother died this week - probably SIDS. (literally her friend since day 2 of Kindergarten- when her mom and I were chatting after the first day she told me that her daughter was having a little bit of a hard time because she didn't know anyone- I said "Aida too!" and we pushed them together and told them to sit together the next day and they were stuck together pretty much the whole year.)

Totally sucks. Her mother and I are also friends and it just is too tragic and too horrible to even comprehend. I have never been around a mother who just lost a child and the only word I can think of is awesome. I know usually awesome has a positive meaning, but obviously I don't mean it in a positive way. The pain is just so overwhelmingly big. All of us expect that we would be in a fetal position in the corner- but reality is different.

The only comforting part is that their friends and family from all over the country and the world have been and continue to fly in. I can see that they are surrounded by people who love them and who they know really well. I found myself also being thankful that if God forbid something horrible should happen to us that I know Eduardo and I would also have people we love coming to us to help in any way they could.

Caroline and I were just talking last week about writing raw emotional things on our blogs. Both of us normally don't- but tonight for some reason I wanted to.

To top it all off I thought I would get a little relief by drinking my beer and reading politics- kind of sad I know- anyway news for Dems has been pretty good lately. Not today. As Digby says the Dems got totally and completly punked by McCain and crew. Big fucking surprise.
