I could not agree with Glenn Greenwald more when he writes about how Democrats should be talking about the administration wanting to invade Iran:
Democrats ought to be happy about this and should engage this debate eagerly and aggressively. That does not mean defensively trying to assure everyone that they care about terrorism, too, and petulantly insisting that they really are patriots also (which is what we've heard so far in response to this escalated rhetoric). It means jumping on this debate in as straightforward and unambiguous a manner as possible -- offensively. The Republicans are always so good about creating a caricature of their opponent: Kerry= East Coast, wind surfing, French, pansy, Gore= Lying, silly, do anything to get elected. It is amazing to me that I have never seen a Democrat stress the obvious- Bush is an idiot and Cheney and Rumsfeld are off their rockers. Why not? We don't even have to create a caricature- they are caricatures! Is it because we think people should be civil? Karl Rove must love the Democrats need to be "nice" above all other traits. When you are getting your ass kicked over and over and over and the people in charge are literally destroying the country, not to mention the planet it is not the time for civility.
Here is a simple campaign slogan for you: "Wanna invade Iran?, Vote Republican." Why the hell are the Dems not saying this???!!!
