Today I turned 36. I really don't have any positive or negative feelings about the number 36. I am kind of surprised because 35 bummed me out.
I had a very nice birthday weekend. Last night we went to an always fun Bird Park Summer concert in our neighborhood. I love going to these concerts and unfortunately last night was the last one of the summer- unfortunate because it is the only one I have gotten to this year. We sat with Daleth and our kids loved that they could run around all evening. These concerts are very much a neighborhood event and the small town girl in me loves being surrounded by so many familiar faces. One thing I really miss about Iowa City and Decorah is constantly bumping into people.
Bird Park concerts are a prime "bumping into" event, case in point, we ran into my blog buddy and fellow new 36 year old Aaryn, from Ruby Soho, her hubby Sam and always cute as a button daughter Ruby. As always we chatted about soccer and how much we hate George Bush- what else is new?
Being the party animals that we are one event is not enough for a Saturday night and we dragged Caroline along to an Argentinean filled birthday party for Selena who turned 30 on the 17th. The highlight of the party was watching the Argentinean fire juggler catch his shorts on fire. (seriously) Luckily they were quickly put out. We were still there at midnight and I received many nice birthday wishes.
Today was a great family day- we went to Coronado and rented a family sized bike and cycled on the island. The kids especially had a blast. Here you can see Pablo, Aida and Eduardo's cousin Paola's arm.
So far 36 is pretty good. For any of you who have already passed the #36 what was the best thing that happened to you in your 36th year? Hit the "Comment" button below and let us know.
