Everybody Loves a Parade

Yesterday morning we went downtown to see the Nordic Fest parade. As always the parade went on way too long- but the kids liked that people were constantly throwing candy at them. Here you can see the high school marching band. I think they are wearing their "summer" uniform, which as you can see not only looks totally stupid- I think it is borderline abusive considering the heat.























Here is where Decorah's alternative side shows. The last years these amazing puppets have been in the parade. They remind me of puppets that are often featured in anti-war protests.


















As you can see this is the big museum in town. It is a pretty interesting place. I guess as long as you are not Mexican you can be proud of your ethnic background and even fly the flag of another country.









On the way home from the parade we went to the famous Whippy Dip.
