England is Defeated, so is my Streptococcus

Streptococcus

As Caroline writes about this morning, England lost yesterday. The British newspaper the Guardian has a great paragraph about British star Rooney's red card:

But the lingering, dispiriting scene of the afternoon was, surely, that of Rooney walking from the field on the hour, a red card waved above his petulant head after an ill-advised entanglement with the most delicate part of Ricardo Carvalho's anatomy. Whether there was intent is impossible to say. It looked, without prejudice, a moment of unstructured argy-bargy. And the Chelsea man made the most of it.

I watched the England game with Aida yesterday while Eduardo was at North Park's World Cup Headquarters, The Bluefoot, with the gang. I joined them for the Brazil France game. Eduardo and I were hoping for a Brazilian victory, but it was hard not to get swept up in the joy at the Bluefoot since surprisingly there was quite a large French contingent there- including our own Jerome. Then France's victory worked to our advantage because Jerome invited us back to his restaurant Vagabond where he was a very gracious host serving us great food and one caipirinha (Brazilian mixed drink) after another.
I did not indulge much in the delicious caipirinhas- unfortunately a drink full of lime juice felt like battery acid on my still sore throat. The good news is that although I woke up yesterday still not feeling so great- by the time I hit the 24 hour mark of having antibiotics in my system I felt much better. I like the idea of the Augmentin I am taking kicking the little butts of the Streptococcus bacteria that have made me feel like hell for the past few days.
