First Day of School
Very exciting morning. Aida woke up at 5:30!! For those of you who know Aida you know how strange that is. When I woke up at 6:00 she was on the computer playing Nick Jr.
On the way to school she said she was a little nervous, but by the time we got there she was obviously very happy. Her new teacher is great. As you can see below she is especially excited about her friend Joelle being in her class again after a year apart.
Pablo was also in a pretty good mood this morning, he just did not want his picture taken. He was excited to get to school though, where he is now one of the big boys.

Aida and Joelle

Reunited and it feels so good!
Aida and one of her closest friends Joelle this morning on the first day of 2nd grade. They met in kindergarten and were inseparable by the end of the first week. They were not in the same 1st grade class and are SO HAPPY to be in the same class this year.

This is my awesome roomate Athenea and I at Saturday's dinner. I stole this photo from N-Todd's website. If you want to know what we were laughing about you will have to link to him. He has more photos from the weekend on his site.

Eschacon 2005
I went to Philadelphia this weekend for a weekend convention of crazy politically obsessed people like myself. It was great.
I spent Friday and Saturday meeting a bunch of great people and listening to really interesting panel discussions mostly about how are we going to get our country back.
I spent Sunday touring Philadelphia with my 2nd cousin and his wife who are architects. The city is beautiful and such an interesting place to walk around.

Benjamin Franklin sits outside where his house used to be.
(The actual house was torn down by Franklin's grandchildren.)

Rep. Louise M. Slaughter (D-NY) speaking to us during Saturday's afternoon session. Not a great photo- too bad.

The kids thought this was my coolest photo- just chained up in front of a coffee shop as if it was any other bike....

Swim Lessons
Aida has taken swim lessons everyday almost the whole month of August. It has just "clicked" for her this summer and she has had a lot of fun.
