We found out this week that two of our dear friends, Maloy and Dennis, from our Nagasaki years are tying the knot in 2007. For Dennis, a January Tokyo wedding and for Maloy a Maine wedding in June.
As some of you may know our own wedding was a bit, um... rushed. Our only regret is that Eduardo thought I had invited Dennis who had moved to Tokyo a bit earlier and I thought he had. Dennis was a very close friend of ours and we were horrified when he called us after the wedding and let us have it for not including him in on the festivities. That New Year's we stayed with him for a week in Tokyo and after much groveling he forgave us. (That was also the trip we spent New Year's Eve at the Zambian Ambassador's Residence, but that is a story is for another time....)
These photos crack me up. They are from Lucky Bowl, close to Nagasaki University. Obviously this was the same night because Garvey was wearing the same outfit- who other than Garvey would wear a tie bowling? Maloy is in the center of the one on the top, and Dennis is kind of in the middle of the one on the bottom. Little did we know at the time that Mike, at the top of the bottom photo, would marry Eduardo's sister. Life is strange.
